Socket x socket fittings, also called slip or hub fittings, include socket ends on all fitting connection ends. The socket ends fit over the end of an ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) pipe and require glue or adhesive to secure the connection.

Drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems convey effluent streams, such as black water or gray water waste. ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is an opaque thermoplastic polymer with high tensile strength and low temperature properties. ABS DWV fittings connect the same or different sizes of ABS pipe and use gravity to divert, divide, or return the flow of water and waste through the pipeline. DWV pipe and fittings are not for use in pressure applications. The smooth interior walls of ABS pipe and fittings resist physical impact, chemical corrosion, and scaling.
