Low-profile easy-turn light-duty and medium-duty standard plate casters each have two wheels mounted on one axle. This reduces friction between the floor and the wheels (also known as scrubbing), which allows the casters to swivel more easily than plate casters with a single wheel. Low-profile casters keep the equipment close to the ground to maximize the equipment's stability while rolling. These casters are used on carts, business machines, store fixtures, and other equipment that will be moved manually at moderate speeds. They are suitable for transporting loads along smooth, flat surfaces in areas where the casters won't encounter shock loading. These light-duty and medium-duty plate casters have steel frames with a zinc-plated or polished brass finish. Medium-duty casters can bear more weight and withstand more industrial conditions than light-duty casters.

Standard plate casters have kingpins that securely join the casters' mounting plates to their frames.
