NSF-listed sanitary threaded stem casters are built to satisfy the National Sanitation Foundation's (NSF) rigorous testing requirements for casters that are used in environments where they will be exposed to frequent washdowns, oils, or chemicals. They are mounted onto racks, carts, and other equipment used in environments where sanitary conditions must be maintained, such as food-service areas, food-manufacturing facilities, and cleanrooms. The casters have double ball swivel bearings that allow them to swivel smoothly.

Threaded stem casters are the most commonly used type of stem caster. They have a threaded stem on top that screws into a threaded hole, bracket, insert, or socket on a piece of equipment. The casters allow the equipment to roll, which reduces the effort it takes to move or reposition the equipment. Threaded stem casters are typically used to add casters on equipment where there is not enough room on the equipment's mounting surface to attach a plate caster's mounting plate.
