Compared to light-duty industrial fans, these standard-duty fans are made of heavier-gauge materials, have a higher-horsepower motor that is totally enclosed to keep out debris, and feature more-robust motor bearings for a longer life.

Industrial pedestal fans have a heavy base and an adjustable-height post, so they can be placed on the floor and directed onto workspaces, machinery, or products. The pedestal base provides stable footing while allowing fans to be moved as needed. The post can be raised or lowered to set the fan head at an optimal height. These air circulators (sometimes called industrial shop fans) are commonly used for cooling in manufacturing plants, warehouses, and shipping operations.
