Semipneumatic wheels have a thick rubber wall with a nonpressurized air pocket in the center and will not go flat if they are punctured. They are suitable for rolling over smooth, flat surfaces in areas that may contain sharp debris. Semipneumatic wheels are lighter than flat-free wheels. They require less maintenance than pneumatic wheels because they do not have to have their air pressure checked. They are also more rigid and absorb less shock and vibration than pneumatic and flat-free wheels.
