Help: Hazardous Freight Shipments

Hazardous Materials

The transportation of Items classified as hazardous is highly regulated by the DOT and other regulatory agencies. Imperial will ship these products via ground transportation only. They are precluded from shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Catalina Island since these destinations require segmented service via air carriers. These items must be shipped in their original packaging and cannot be combined or consolidated with any other product at time of shipment. All carriers charge a fee for this service, and it can be shown on your invoice as a hazardous charge based on your negotiated freight terms. Parcel carriers charge a fee per carton, while shipments that qualify for LTL truck service may charge one fee per shipment.

Limited Quantity Products

In addition, there are other products known as 'Limited Quantity' that are also regulated for shipment. These products have the same air shipping restrictions as hazardous but may be combined with other products up to a set limit and do not carry an additional fee.

California Proposition 65

These products contain a chemical known to the State of California to either cause cancer or reproductive harm.
