What are cookies?

What are cookies?
A "cookie" is a small piece of information sent by a web site to be stored on a web browser so it can later be read back from that browser. The web is by definition "stateless", meaning that a website cannot track anyone by connection, since in theory multiple users could come from the same location at the same time. Cookies allow a web site to "remember" who a user is and what they are doing on a web site. By design, cookies can only be accessed by the site that creates them.

What are they used for?
In Imperial's case, cookies are used to connect you to your account and orders, and to maintain order status. They are also used to hold your login credentials for our site if you request it.

Can I view Imperial's website without cookies?
Yes, but you will only be able to view the static site pages. We must have functional browser cookies in order to deliver personalized content. You will not be able to use Imperial's "Your Account" pages or login to the site without browser cookies.
